Click here for a list of Karl's forthcoming performances (Please note that when Karl’s music is performed, it does not necessarily mean that he himself is either conducting or appearing).
On his return from successful concerts in NY and Mumbai earlier in the year, Karl has been busily composing his next release for EMI Classics. The album will consist of two works, each dealing with the Christmas message but with a more inclusive and universal approach. The first is an entirely new piece while the second is a collection of carols from around the world. The album, for choir and orchestra will also feature trumpeter Alison Balsam and soprano Kate Royal with some Adiemus type vocals thrown in! Recording starts soon for a late autumn release and a possible UK tour before Christmas.
June 28th sees the premier in Carmarthen of 'O Beata Trinitas', a short work for chorus & orchestra, with text by Grahame Davies, based on the 'Black Book of Carmarthen' and commissioned by Trinity University.
On July 25th, David Childs premiers the Euphonium Concerto Karl has just written for him. This will be at the Welsh Proms under the baton of Owain Arwel Hughes with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
The next all Karl Jenkins UK concert will be birthday celebration at the WMC, Cardiff on Nov 14th. Excerpts from Requiem, Stabat Mater, the new christmas collection and Adiemus will be performed as well as pieces from the The Armed Man which has firmly established itself as one of the most successful choral works of our time, with over 700 performances in more than 20 countries. The event will also mark the anniversaries of the WMC [5th] and Welsh Assembly [10th] who have commissioned a new anthem for the occasion.
The Armed Man is being performed in Shanghai and Beijing in July.
